With my photographic project I intend to show the activities that take place aboard my sailing boat “La Bum” during a cruise and the resulting benefits, with the aim of transmitting my experience of sea life to those who get on board to learn the basics of sailing or to enjoy life on the sea.
Furthermore, as mentioned in the statute of the Italian Naval League of which I have been a member for more than 25 years, it is a duty to spread the love for the sea through marine sports and numerous navigation activities.
The sport of sailing has been an excellent medicine for me to overcome the stress of my hectic working life and today it has become a real passion that I am pleased to pass on to others.
I receive requests to embark with me mainly from young people who can thus learn to collaborate as part of a team, to live in confined spaces, to alternate each other in on-board activities, including cleaning, organizing the galley and preparing food for the ‘crew.
In the evening we moor in ports or bays, at anchor, thus alternating some stops on land for a bit of tourism with the relaxation that a bay offers on a starry night, in contact with nature and its slower rhythms, in contrast with the frenetic pace of the cities. In this way you learn to appreciate a more archaic and slow way of life, to listen to the sound of the water flowing under the hull, and the wind on the sails.
